Valuation Services

At Ogden of Harrogate, we understand the intrinsic value of your jewellery, not solely in terms of its monetary worth but also its personal significance to you.

Our bespoke Valuations service aims to identify the right valuation for you, whether for probate, insurance, division, post loss or other purposes.

The Valuation Process

  • Prior to beginning a valuation, a visual appraisal of your items will be made, and advice given on the most suitable type of valuation.
  • All items are also cleaned and checked within our workshops prior to being valued.
  • Your items for valuation are fully insured with us and will never leave our premises unless pre-arranged.
  • All valuations are completed by one of our in-house gemmologists.
  • Pieces will be assessed and a printed valuation certificate with photographs will be issued in print form and also by email (if requested). This may be shared with your insurer or solicitor as required.
  • In certain cases such as Post Loss valuations, Ogden of Harrogate can deal directly with insurers.

Our Valuation Fees

Single Item: £95

Any subsequent items: £70 each

*Please note any exceptional items requiring further research may incur a pre-arranged additional charge.

Other Services Offered

The Valuations Department can also provide diagnostic testing and arrange for certification of stones with a worldwide recognised laboratory, provide condition reports, and can fast track valuations within a 24 or 48 hour timeframe for an extra fee.

Should you wish to part with items in your beloved jewellery and watch collection, we can of course conside your items for offer or provide advice on redesigns or repurposing. All pieces would need to be seen in-person for consideration.
