And so we come to the final day of our Advent Calendar.

Since its foundation in 1893, Ogdens has specialised in sourcing one-of-a-kind 'high jewellery' pieces from all epochs, from founder James R Ogden's famous black natural pearls to significant certified diamonds in the present day.

The certified Colombian oval emerald is set simply in an 18ct white gold and diamond ring mount. When the richness of colour and clarity is this good, it requires little accompaniment.

The cushion cut is one of our favourite cuts of diamond. Established some 200 years ago, it was long the most popular cut of diamond, and is essentially a square cut with rounded corners and sides. On a GIA certificate, this diamond is 3.56cts in weight, and G colour, VS1 clarity, remarkable characteristics for an older cut of diamond.

The collarette necklace is shaped to add a jewelled focal point to the neckline. A piece for a very special occasion.
