A very Happy Christmas to all of you
And so we come to the final day of our Advent Calendar. The last door, naturally, gains entrance to the beautiful interior of our Harrogate premises, which we have occupied since 1910.
In attendance are two rare cow creamers from the time of George III. Made by the master of this style, John Schuppe, in 1763, these are realistically modelled, and beautifully finished. There remains a huge following for Schuppe's cow creamers, which are even featured in the Victoria & Albert Museum collection.
The kingfisher sugar sifter is from a later period, 1910, but makes a willing partner to the cows in the business of tea service.
The modern salt and pepper condiment set in the form of cartridges, with gilt ends, are perhaps a slightly menacing presence with which to complete the set.
We do hope you have enjoyed opening our doors and viewing just some of our collections over the last twenty-four days, and would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and the best of years in 2023.
