Alex Monroe Jewellery

British goldsmith Alex Monroe creates beautiful and imaginative pieces inspired by nature.

Every piece is handmade in England, and is marked with a particular British quirkiness and character - instantly recognisable modern classics.

The gold and rose gold-coloured pieces are generally 'vermeil'. This is a technique originating in the 19th century, where gold was applied to sterling silver. Gold vermeil is also made through the gold plating technique but requires a thicker layer of gold. In this case, the gold layer must be above 2.5 microns.

The honey bee cufflinks with swivel bar fasteners are a riff on Alex Monroe's most famous piece, the Bee Necklace, which comes in three colours - silver, yellow gold vermeil and rose gold vermeil - and different sizes.

The beautifully ornate letters are floral-themed, and a twist on the more standard style of letter necklace.

The hummingbird and dragonfly earrings are finely detailed in execution, something of a hallmark in Alex Monroe's work, and the swallow necklace really takes wing!
