An Antique Emerald and Diamond Lizard Brooch - Circa 1910

Realistically modelled as a Lizard, the head mounted with a Colombian emerald and ruby set eyes, adorned with a beautiful blue stripe of sapphires down the centre of the lizards back, with rose-cut diamond encrusted legs.

Jewellery of the 1900's mirrored that of Queen Victoria's life and of the Late Romantic period, decorative animal pieces were representative of the monarch's sentimental side. 

This antique brooch is in wonderful condition.
