Victorian 15ct Yellow Gold Sliding Pen/Pencil, c.1870
An embodiment of the Victorians' creative and fun craftmanship, this combined pen and pencil is crafted from 15ct yellow gold and features beautifully intricate engravings along all six sides. It features two separate sliders; the lower slider reveals a fountain pen, whilst the upper one reveals a pencil head. This piece holds more secrets; the head of the tool is a seal stamp, and can be unscrewed to reveal a barrel of seven storage holes for extra lead. A luxurious addition to any artists' desk!
On the side of the piece, a plain plate has engraved '19th September 1870', indicating not only the date of its creation, but perhaps the birthday of or a special occasion for its original owner.
